England batsman Robin Das of Bangladeshi origin has come to Dhaka to play in the ninth season of BPL. Born in England, this cricketer is very excited to play in Bangladesh. Robin’s father Mridul Kanti Das’ original residence is in Sunamganj, Sylhet. But Robin was born and raised in England.
Robin has not yet played any international match for England. Robin, who played for Essex in the county, came to attention as a substitute fielder in the Lord’s Test between England and New Zealand in June last year.
20-year-old Robin will play for Dhaka Dominators in this year’s BPL. Robin’s dream is to play in England, not Bangladesh in the future.
This cricketer of Bangladeshi origin said, ‘Playing for England is my dream. I don’t want to close any doors for the future. I grew up in England. Played county cricket for Essex there. If possible, I want to play for England in the future.’
Fourth phase of BPL in Sylhet. Robin wants to meet relatives in Sylhet. He said, ‘When I go to Sylhet with the team, I want to visit my family and relatives. Playing in my father’s district Sylhet will be a big deal.’
He also said, ‘Not only my family, everyone in Bangladesh and Sylhet is happy with me. They are very happy to see me in Bangladesh.
Even though he is in England, Robin regularly watches Bangladesh games. He likes Liton Das playing in Tigers. He said, ‘Litton is a great cricketer. He was one of the best cricketers in Bangladesh in all three formats last year. He is one of the best cricketers in the world. He inspires me. I have seen many games of Bangladesh. Saw him doing well.’
Right-handed batsman Robin played 7 List ‘A’ and 3 T20 matches for Essex. He scored 202 runs with 1 half-century in List ‘A’ and 45 runs in T20.
