It is better to recite Darood Sharif and Duaye Masura in the 1st sitting of Muaqqadah apart from the Sunnah of four rakats.

Mufti Ehsanul Haque.

If one recites Darood Sharif or Allahum صل على محمد after Tashahhud in the 1st meeting of four and three rakat obligatory prayers, Witir and four rakat Sunnah muakkadah i.e. the four rakats before Zuhr and the four rakats before and after Jumu’ah then it is due to this mistake. Sahu is wajib in Sajda.

On the other hand, in the case of the four-rakat sunnats other than muakkadah, i.e. the four-rakats sunnats before Asr and Isha, and the four-rakats nafal prayers, in the 1st meeting, after the Tashahhud, reciting Darud and Dua Masura will not be wajib in Sajdah. Rather, it is better (Mustahab) to stand for the third rak’at after Tashahhud, reciting Darud Sharif and Dua’ Masura.

Likewise, after standing in the third rak’ah, it is better to start Surah Fateha by reciting ‘Sana, Ta’awuz (Auzubillah) and Tasmiya (Bismillah) in full.

But if one does not recite Sanaa, Taawoz and Tasmiyyah at the beginning of the 3rd Rakat after Darood and Dua after Tashahhud of Muakkad without Sunnah then there is no problem.

Due to the fact that many Muslims do not know the correct issue, in the case of Mu’aqqad with four rak’ahs like Sunnah Muaqqad, if they recite Darud Sharif in the 1st meeting, they give Sahu in Sajdah. Which is the wrong approach.

When Imam Sha’bi (103) was asked about reciting Durood after Tashahhud, he replied,

Musannafu Ibni Abi Shayba: 3022

Ibnu Abedin Shami r. (1250) and Allama Alauddin Haskafi r. (1088) He wrote more spost distinguishing muaqqadah in sunnah and muaqqadah outside.

Raddul Muhtar Ala Hamishiddurril Mukhtar – 2/456-457 (Zakariya Bookdepot)

The gist of which is that in the first sitting of Mu’akkadah with four rak’ahs, Darud Sharif should not be recited after Tashahhud.

Because in the Sunnah the muaqqadahs are farad and wajib similar in terms of “Masruiyat and importance”. And except for the Sunnah of four rak’ahs, two rak’ahs for Mu’akkadah and Nawafil are like different prayers. Therefore, in the same way as two rak’at Nafal should be read, four rak’at prayers should be read in one salam.

The famous fatwa book Fatwa Hindiyya of the Hanafi Madhhab has-

Fatwa Hindiyyah: 1/113 (Zakariya Bookdepot)

Ibn Nuzaim al-Misri al-Hanafi RA (790) also expressed the same in Al-Bahrur Rayek (Zakariya Bookdepo) 2/49.

Dr. Wahba Mustafa Azuhayli Alfiqhul Islami and Adillatuhu on page 2/1068 expressed the opinion of the Hanafi Madhhab in this regard and wrote:

Fatwa No. 60725 of Darul Ifta Deoband states-

The difference between سنت موكدة and غير موكدة is that in سنت موكدة the salutation is not recited after تشہد درود شريف and at the beginning of the third rakat in Qadaa of the 2nd rakat and in غيرموّكده سنت and نوافل the درود شريف is recited after تشہد and at the beginning of the third rakat. It is recommended to read .

Therefore, it is clearly known through the mentioned review that it is mustahab (best) to recite Darood Sharif and Dua’i Masura after Tashahhud of the 1st sitting and to recite Sana’a, Ta’awuz and Tasmiyyah at the beginning of the third rak’ah in the case of Mu’akkadah except in four rak’at Sunnah.

Note: In the next four rakats of Jumu’ah, if someone recites Darood after Tashahhud, it is not necessary to give Sahu in Sajda; Rather, there is an opportunity to read Darood Sharif like Nawafel with 4 Rakats. Because the Sunnah of Ba’dal Jumu’ah is muakkadah but reading four rakats is not muakkadah. There is a difference of opinion whether it is four rakat or two rakat.

Mufti Rashid Ahmad Ludhianvi r. On page 4/490 of his famous fatwa book Ahsanul Fatwa, he wrote:

It is better to recite Durood Sharif and Dua in two rak’ahs in Sunan and at the beginning of the third Rak’at. It is permissible to read درود شريف, it is not سجدۂ سهو نهي, because although these four rak’ats are mu’akdah, but reciting four with one salam is not muqad.
