Yesterday Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barisal faced each other in the first match of the day at Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium. Even though Barisal won this match, there was ADRS controversy. A controversial decision has come in ADRS in the case of Fortune Barisal’s batsman Enamul Haque Vijay, who went down to chase down the target given by Rangpur Riders. Sikandar Raja’s delivery looked like it would go outside the leg stump. But since the necessary technology was not there, there was no chance to be completely sure. The third umpire made a speculative decision — out! Angered by this, Vijay left the field. This is not the first drama about ADRS in the current season.
Later in the press conference after the match, Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan said in response to a question, ‘Either DRS should be used, else the game should be conducted without this ADRS. But it is better not to have (ADRS).’
Sohan said, ‘Due to ADRS, the umpires are also under a lot of pressure on the field. Having full DRS also benefits them. Everyone is human. They may also make one or two mistakes in the field.
Meanwhile, Enamul Haque Vijay did not leave the field after getting out. He was talking to the umpire. In this context, Sohan said, ‘What was going on… I was not there. We were celebrating then. When the umpire gives out on the field, the batsman may often wonder how he got out or what happened. I don’t know what he was talking about with the umpire. Because I was at the other end of the field.’
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the issue of being out and not leaving the field. Earlier Dhaka Dominators cricketer Soumya Sarkar also did the same thing. Although given out first, he was not out after a while without leaving the field. But it did not happen during the victory.
