Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has commented on the death of Syed Faisal, a Bangladeshi student in Boston, USA, as very unintended, sad and a violation of human rights. He said, ‘This murder has shown that human rights are violated in the United States as well.’

He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Kakrail Information Building auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (January 10).
The information minister said, ‘I pray for the forgiveness of the soul of the Bangladeshi student who was shot by the police. However, the US government has already suspended the concerned police officer, and the investigation is ongoing. I hope that the US law enforcement agencies responsible for this incident will be brought to justice.
Hasan Mahmud said, ‘United States is our friendly country. We are keeping a watchful eye so that no one violates human rights in our country. We also want that human rights should not be violated anywhere in the world.’

After the meeting, the Information Minister presented a set of five books each on Bangabandhu, Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina to the Indian journalists. The Minister accepted the book ‘Greaters of East Bengal in the Freedom Struggle of Akhand Bharat’ published by Calcutta Press Club and unveiled the cover of the book ‘Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh’ edited by journalist Suman Bhattacharya.
