If pushed, Awami League will fall, not so easy: Prime Minister
Our Islam Desk: Commenting that the Awami League will fall if pushed, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did something for Bengalis whenever he got the opportunity. We learned to love this country from him.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this in the presiding speech at the discussion program at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Homecoming Day on Tuesday (January 10) afternoon.
The Prime Minister said, ‘Father of the nation Bangabandhu, the last Mujibur Rahman was arrested by the Pakistanis and imprisoned in an unknown place. Not only was he imprisoned, he was charged with treason and ordered to be hanged and a grave was dug in the jail.’
Sheikh Hasina also said, ‘Indira Gandhi held dharnas at various places for the release of the father of the nation. Yahya Khan released Bangabandhu under the pressure of various countries. The victory and freedom of the great war of liberation was fulfilled only through the homecoming of the father of the nation. The killing of Bangabandhu has caused more damage to the people of the country than the family.’
The Prime Minister also said, ‘What Awami League says, it keeps its word. When Awami League came to power, the people of the country got something. Our pledge to the Father of the Nation on this day; His sacrifice and the blood of 3 million martyrs will not go in vain.
Sheikh Hasina also said, ‘The words that Bangabandhu spoke at Suhrawardy Udyan on January 10, he did them one by one. Constitution was given in just 9 months. It took 11 years to give the constitution of Pakistan.’
