In danger, read the prayer more and more!

Fahim Ahmed..

If a Muslim recites Dua Yunus in any need, Allah will accept his dua. (Tirmidhi, Sahihul Jami: 3383)

According to another hadith, Allah will remove his worries if Yunus prays. Pronunciation: La ila-ha illa-anta, subha’-naka inni kuntu-minaz-yoalimin. Meaning: (O Allah) There is no god but You, You are holy and great! Surely I am among the wrongdoers. (Surat al-Anbiya: 87)

A simple deed can be done to accept du’a, which Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) was successful in doing.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “If a Muslim asks for something with the dua that Yunus (A.S.) made in the belly of the fish, then Allah will surely answer his request.” The two are-
La ilaha illa anta subha’naka inni kungtu minaz zoylimin) Meaning: (O Allah!) There is no god but You, Glorious are You; Surely I am among the wrongdoers.

In a hadith, this dua or dhikr is in the name of Allah, by which Allah responds. [เฆนাเฆ•িเฆฎ, เฆ†เฆฒ-เฆฎুเฆธเฆคাเฆฆเฆฐাเฆ•: เงง/เงฌเงฎเงซ] Let’s clear things up first. Many may think, ‘How is this dua? This sentence is not asking for anything! This is zikir!’

Note that the various dhikr described in the hadith are also a form of du’a, even though they do not ask for anything. When Yunus (a.s.) was reading this sentence, did he not think that, O my Lord! Help me get rid of this difficult situation (belly of fish)?

You repeat this phrase over and over again, while moving your tongue or asking God for that desired thing in your heart. However, focus on the meaning of this sentence.

Here there is praise to Allah and condemnation to oneself. Allah Ta’ala likes that the servant should reproach himself with regard to himself and praise Allah. Because indeed we are worthy of blame and Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is worthy of all praise. Keeping your sins in mind, belittle yourself and keep asking Allah. By calling oneself ‘oppressor’ in the sentence is meant to oppress one’s self by sin. A person is a tyrant even if he does injustice to himself.

If a big fish in the sea swallows someone, there is no way for him to escape. In such dire moments there can be no helper except Allah.

Think, Prophet Yunus (A.S.) faced such a terrible danger. He did not despair and remembered his mistake and continued to pray to Allah and Allah responded to his call and brought him out of this dark place.

Surely our danger is not greater than Prophet Yunus (A.S.)!? So one should make dua with full faith without despair. One should show one’s incapacity to Allah by following the Du’ar manners and rules. Allah did not disappoint His Prophet; Don’t do us either.
