Is it permissible to recite the Quran and pray next to the grave?
Question: Is it permissible to recite the Qur’an near the grave? Is it permissible to raise hands and pray for the dead after the recitation? Which direction is better to turn dua during Duar?
Answer: It is permissible to recite the Qur’an near the grave. It is proven from the Sahaba-Tabayeen to recite various surahs during the Karb Ziyarat. At the end of the recitation, it is also permissible to raise both hands and pray for the deceased, facing the Qiblah and keeping the grave behind.
