The baby born in the rubble has been named, hundreds of applications for adoption
Our Islam Desk: The baby born under the rubble in Syria has been named. The staff of Sehan Hospital near Afrin in the country named her ‘Aya’. The doctors confirmed that the child is now healthy.
The child was born in the terrible conditions of the earthquake in the city of Jindires in northwestern Syria on Monday morning. When Aya was born, her mother was still trapped under the rubble. Her mother died soon after the birth of the child. BBC reports that Aya’s father, four siblings and an aunt were also killed in the earthquake.
The Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) team rescued the child after a five-hour effort. He has injury marks on different parts of his body.
A footage that has gone viral on social media shows a man carrying the child in his arms after being pulled from the wreckage of Jindaris. “We heard a noise while we were digging,” the child’s uncle, Khalil al-Suwadi, told AFP on Tuesday. Then we cleaned the dust and found the baby with the pulse attached to the umbilical cord, later we cut the pulse and my cousin took him to the hospital.
According to the Syrian Ministry of Health, more than 3,150 people died in the earthquake in the country. Moreover, the death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 21 thousand. Source: TRT World
