10 virtues of reciting the Qur’an

The great book Al Qur’an is a great stone. The touch of which turns Zero into a hero. Makes everyone respected and respected. Many virtues associated with the Qur’an are described in the Qur’an-Hadith. Here are 10 mentioned.

1. Allah Almighty will reward those who read the Qur’an in full and will continue to increase His favor upon them. Almighty Allah says
اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَتۡلُوۡنَ کِتٰبَ اللّٰہِ وَاَقَامُوا الصَّلٰوۃَ وَاَنۡفَقُوۡا مِمَّا رَزَقۡنٰہُمۡ سِرًّا وَّعَلَانِیَۃً یَّرۡجُوۡنَ تِجَارَۃً لَّنۡ تَبُوۡرَ ۙ لِیُوَفِّیَہُمۡ اُجُوۡرَہُمۡ وَیَزِیۡدَہُمۡ مِّنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ ؕ اِنَّہٗ غَفُوۡرٌ شَکُوۡرٌ অর্থ: যারা আল্লাহর কিতাব তেলাওয়াত করে, নামাজ কায়েম করে এবং আমি তাদেরকে যে রিজিক দিয়েছি তা থেকে (সৎকাজে) ব্যয় করে Secretly and openly, they hope for a business that never makes a loss. That Allah may give them their full reward and give them more of His grace. Surely He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Surah Fatir, Verses: 29 – 30

2. Allah will multiply the status of those who read the Quran. Ershad in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ، لَقِيَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بِعُسْفَانَ – وَكَانَ عُمَرُ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى مَكَّةَ – فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَنِ اسْتَخْلَفْتَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْوَادِي قَالَ اسْتَخْلَفْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ ابْنَ أَبْزَى ‏.‏ قَالَ وَمَنِ ابْنُ أَبْزَى قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ مَوَالِينَا ‏. ‏ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَاسْتَخْلَفْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَوْلًى قَالَ إِنَّهُ قَارِئٌ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى عَالِمٌ بِالْفَرَائِضِ قَاضٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ عُمَرُ أَمَا إِنَّ نَبِيَّكُمْ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ ‏ “‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَرْفَعُ بِهَذَا الْكِتَابِ أَقْوَامًا وَيَضَعُ بِهِ آخَرِينَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ অর্থ: ‘Amir Ibn Wasila Abu Tufail RA. Narrated that, Nafe’ Ibn ‘Abdul Haris RA. Omar Ibn Khattab RA at the place called “Usfan”. Get along with it. Omar Ra. He was appointed by the governor of Makkah. Omar then. He said, Whom have you replaced (made caliph) for the Bedouin villagers? He said, I have Ibn Abaza on them. Who made the caliph. Omar Ra. Who said Ibn Abaza?

He said, he is a freed slave of ours. Omar Ra. He said, you have made a slave caliph over the people? He said that he is a reciter of the Book of Allah Almighty, an experienced ‘Alim and a Qazi in the fields of knowledge. Omar Ra. He said, don’t you know that your Prophet He said, surely Allah will establish some tribes in high status through this book and how many will be degraded by it? Ibn Majah, Hadith: 218. Quality of Hadith: Sahih 3.

The best people are those who learn and teach the Qur’an. Narrated in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ, قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ” خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ Meaning: Ali Ibn Abu Talib RA. Narrated from, Rasulullah SAW. Said the best among you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it. Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2909 Hadith Quality: Sahih

4. 10 good points per letter. Ershad is mentioned in the hadith
عَنْ عَبْد اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، قال قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ” مَنْ قَرَأَ حَرْفًا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُ بِهِ حَسَنَةٌ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا لاَ أَقُولُ الم حَرْفٌ وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ حَرْفٌ وَلاَمٌ حَرْفٌ وَمِيمٌ حَرْفٌ
Meaning: Abdullah Ibn Masood RA. Narrated from, he said Rasulullah SAW. It is said that whoever recites a letter of the Qur’an will receive a good deed. And every good deed is multiplied 10 times. I do not say that alif-lam-meem is a hyph; Rather, Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Meem is another letter. Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2910 Hadith Quality: Sahih

5. The parable of the reciter of the Qur’an is like a sweet orange. Narrated in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَثَلِ الأُتْرُجَّةِ، رِيحُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَطَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ، وَمَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي لاَ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَثَلِ التَّمْرَةِ لاَ رِيحَ لَهَا وَطَعْمُهَا حُلْوٌ، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ الرَّيْحَانَةِ، رِيحُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَطَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ, وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي لَ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْانَ كَمَثَلِ الْحَنْظَلَةِ, لَيْسَ لَهَا رِيحٌ وَطَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ Meaning: Abu Musa Ash’ari. Narrated from he said, Rasulullah SAW. Said the example of a believer who recites the Qur’an is like a (sweet) orange, whose scent is good and its taste is good. The example of a believer who does not recite the Qur’an is like a date, which has no scent but has a taste. And the example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur’an is like a rayhana (flower) that has a scent but tastes bitter. And the example of the hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’an is like the hanzala fruit, which has no fragrance and is bitter in taste. Bukhari, Hadith: 5427 Hadith Quality: Sahih

6. Even after death, the dignity of the body of the reciter of the Qur’an is many times higher. Narrated in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ” أَيُّهُمْ أَكْثَرُ أَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ “. فَإِذَا أُشِيرَ لَهُ إِلَى أَحَدِهِمَا قَدَّمَهُ فِي اللَّحْدِ وَقَالَ ” أَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ “. وَأَمَرَ بِدَفْنِهِمْ فِي دِمَائِهِمْ, وَلَمْ يُغَسَّلُوا وَلَمْ يُصَلَّ عَلَيْهِمْ. Meaning: Jaber Ibn Abdullah RA. Narrated from, he said, the Prophet. Two ‘two’ of the martyrs of Uhud used to gather together in the same cloth. Then he would ask, which of the two of them knew more about the Qur’an? If one of the two was pointed to, he would be placed first in the grave and would say, I will be a witness over them on the Day of Resurrection. He ordered them to be buried covered in blood, they were not bathed and their (funeral) prayers were not offered. Bukhari, Hadith: 1343 Hadith Standard: Sahih

7. Those who read the Qur’an are members of the family of Allah, close people. It is mentioned in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏”‏ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ أَهْلِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ هُمْ قَالَ ‏”‏ هُمْ أَهْلُ الْقُرْآنِ أَهْلُ اللَّهِ وَخَاصَّتُهُ ‏”‏ ‏. ,
Meaning: Anas Ibn Malek RA. Narrated from he said, Rasulullah SAW. He said, some people are the family of Allah. The Companions asked, O Messenger of Allah! Who are they? He said that those who recite the Qur’an are the family of Allah and His special servants.

8. Honoring the reciter of the Qur’an (Hafez Qur’an) is equivalent to honoring Allah Ta’ala. It is in the hadith
عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ” إِنَّ مِنْ إِجْلاَلِ اللَّهِ إِكْرَامَ ذِي الشَّيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِ وَحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ غَيْرِ الْغَالِي فِيهِ وَالْجَافِي عَنْهُ وَإِكْرَامَ ذِي السُّلْطَانِ الْمُقْسِطِ ” .
Meaning: On the authority of Abu Musa Ash’ari, he said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, (3 persons) a. An old Muslim, b. A Hafiz of the Qur’an who does not alter its meaning in any way, and c. Honoring the righteous king is like honoring God Almighty. Abu Dawud, Hadith: 4843 Hadith Quality: Hasan

9. The reciter of the Qur’an (Hafez Qur’an) will be given a palace with floors equal to the number of verses of the Qur’an. Narrated in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ” يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ اقْرَأْ وَارْتَقِ وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَكَ عِنْدَ آخِرِ آيَةٍ تَقْرَؤُهَا ” .
Meaning: Abdullah Ibn Omar RA. He said, “The Messenger of Allah said, On the Day of Resurrection, the reciter of the Qur’an will be told, ‘Keep reciting it and keep climbing.’ You recite it slowly as you recite it in the world. Because your final abode (Paradise) is where your Qur’anic verses will end. Abu Dawud, Hadith: 1464 Hadith quality: Hasan

10. The Qur’an is the intercessor whose intercession (on behalf of the reciter) will be accepted. Narrated in Hadith Sharif
عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: «الْقُرْآنُ شَافِعٌ مُشَفَّعٌ، وَمَاحِلٌ مُصَدَّقٌ، فَمَنْ جَعَلَهُ أمَامَهُ قَادَهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، وَمَنْ جَعَلَهُ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ قَادَهُ إِلَى النَّارِ»
Meaning: Zubayd Rah. Narrated by Abdullah Ibn Masud, may Allah be pleased with him. Says the Qur’an is an intercessor whose intercession (on behalf of the reciter) will be accepted. A debater whose debate (on behalf of the reciter) will be accepted. Therefore, whoever keeps the Qur’an in front of him (recites and acts accordingly), the Qur’an will guide him to Paradise. And whoever keeps back (does not recite and act accordingly) the Qur’an will lead him to Hell. Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 124
