Miscreants shot dead a gher trader named Subrata Mandal (50) in Jessore’s Abhaynagar. The murder took place in Damukhali village of the upazila on Wednesday (January 11) morning.
The deceased is the son of Anadi Mandal of Damukhali village of Subrata Mondal upazila. He was a fishmonger by profession.
According to local sources, Subrata Mandal was drinking tea at a shop near the Damukhali school ground of Payra Union around 8:30 am on Wednesday. At that time unknown persons shot him and left. He died on the spot.
According to local sources, Subrata Mandal was a member of Bhabadah Bazar Matsya Arat Samiti of Abhaynagar Upazila. There are several cases in his name in Abhaynagar police station. He was accused in the murder case of Rakibul Islam, a member of Phultala Bazar Banik Samiti in Khulna.
ASI Sultana of Abhaynagar Police Station said that miscreants shot dead one person in Damukhali. Police went to the spot. No details are known yet.
