Independence would not have been complete if Bangabandhu was not returned: Sheikh Tapas

Our Islam Desk: Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DADSIC) commented that independence would not have been achieved if Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not returned.

On the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s homecoming day on Tuesday, the Mayor made this comment after paying tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait at Dhanmondi No. 32.

Barrister Sheikh Tapos said, ‘If the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had not set foot on the soil of Bangladesh on January 10, 1972, if we had not got him back, then the independence of the Bengali nation would not have been complete. The Bengali nation is very lucky that Bangabandhu came back to us to confront the misrule and anti-national conspiracy of the Pakistani ruling class. We have received the fullness of freedom.’

He said that the nation should be united so that communalism does not rise. We have to wake up in patriotism. The spirit of the liberation war must be captured. Otherwise we will not be able to reach our target.

The mayor paid tribute to the brave freedom fighters and martyrs who gave their lives in the liberation war.
